Our challenge as a leading financial institution in Peru is to accelerate the closing of knowledge gaps among mainframe specialists in a rapid and scalable way, as part of the Organization’s strategy of building the best Talent in the Region.

To this end, identifying specialized eLearning in mainframe technology is the first step. This platform must respond not only to current training needs. Still, it must also be aligned with the technological evolution that we at BCP have been continuously undertaking on the Mainframe platform, and aligned with the global trend.

The search focused on finding a market offer that provided updated, specialized, and relevant content, in tune with global technological changes, including the integration of mainframes with hybrid environments, automation, application modernization, and new DevOps practices. The ultimate purpose was to ensure that mainframe training not only covered the technical fundamentals but also prepared professionals to face current and future challenges, in line with industry’s best practices and trends.

Thus, initially, we had e-learning platforms with instructors who deliver courses on demand, and here there is a risk that the planned date for the courses will not be met.

We have 10 new IT recruits coming from BCP’s business units. Interskill has been a huge help in equipping them with the new skills required for software development. We’re leveraging young talent to ensure our succession plan succeeds.

As part of the Development Plan for our specialists, it involves having learning resources available both internally within the organization and from external sources, as well as challenging projects that allow the specialization to evolve and continue advancing in closing gaps.

BCP has personalized learning routes for our experts, which we have planned internally in the Learning Journeys of each employee. According to their gaps, they receive the assignment of the course they need to cover that knowledge. We call this the Individual Development Plan (IDP).

BCP adopted an innovative approach to maximize value by combining Interskill’s English eLearning courses with in-person and virtual workshops led by internal experts. Senior mainframers deliver sessions in their areas of specialization to reinforce and contextualize the eLearning content, improving knowledge retention and fostering team collaboration. Challenging projects are also assigned to consolidate what has been learned through practice.

  • A Strategic Recruitment Tool:

Interskill also plays a key role in attracting internal talent within BCP, allowing people from other units to transfer to IT, perform re-skilling, and confidently assume roles as software engineers on the mainframe platform. The clear and structured learning path has become an effective way to showcase career opportunities in the Chapter and to turn our institution into a kind of “Mainframe University.”
